PLAY THERAPY | SUMMIT COUNTY, COLORADO

Kids don't always have words for what they're carrying.

They don't need to.

Children communicate through play, movement, and behavior long before they find the words for what's going on inside.

Play is the natural language of children. Before they have the vocabulary for what's hard, they show us through what they do. Play therapy works with that instead of against it. It's structured and purposeful, but it meets children where they are, not where adults need them to be. Every child is different, and so is every session.

Every child is different, and so is how we work together.

Some sessions look like play. Some look like art or movement. Some look more like a conversation, especially with older kids and teens. I follow what each child needs rather than a fixed structure.

You stay involved throughout. Parents are part of this process and you won't be left wondering what's happening in the room.

What brings families here

Kids come in for a lot of different reasons. Some are going through something specific. Some are just struggling in ways that are hard to name.

Big life changes

Divorce, a move, a new sibling, loss. When a child's world shifts, their behavior usually tells you before their words do.

Anxiety and worry

The child who can't sleep, won't separate, or shuts down in situations that feel unpredictable.

ADHD and attention challenges

Kids who struggle to regulate, stay focused, or manage big feelings in school and at home.

Trauma and overwhelming experiences

The child who can't sleep, won't separate, or shuts down in situations that feel unpredictable.

What actually changes:

Parents describe it like this:

"They can tell us when they're sad or worried now instead of acting out."

"Mornings are less of a war zone."

"They actually want to go to their sessions."

"Our therapist helped us understand what our kid was trying to say through their behavior. That changed everything."

What you might see over time: fewer meltdowns, better emotional expression, less avoidance, more confidence, and a kid who feels more like themselves again.
